How to make the hard things work well - exploration, engagement, excitement, and by pushing a few buttons.
That’s my rule.
If I do something more than once, I assume it’s not going to be done very often.
If I do something twice, I assume it’s going to be done many times over.
There’s no in-between.
Because there’s no in-between, and I have a healthy relationship with systems, as soon as that 2nd time happens, I have a notepad ready.
I list the steps, the limitations, the reference files, the checklist, and more.
I’m not sure if this is normal.
Probably not.
This week, this happened as I reviewed a new client account. What do I think about? What do I review?
Well, here’s my list:
Product/Service Matrix
Customer Journey/Map
Avatar/ICP Definition
Brand Guide
Content/Asset/Campaign Inventory
Audience Segmentation and Activation Options (email, mail, phone, socials, etc)
Annual/Seasonal/Holiday/News Impacts
Content/campaign plan
Scorecard
Quarterly Planning and Sprints
It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. It’s progress.
That’s the work of the work - to get better over time.
What is your threshold? Do you have a limit to your processes before you capture better ways, SOPs, and checklists?
Tool of the week - We’re going a little unconventional this week. After traveling extensively the last 7 weeks, here are the 3 key tools I can recommend.
TripIt - keeps track of my travel plans automatically, adds them to my calendar, keeps me updated on arrival gates, delays, baggage claim carousels, and more.
My Time Buddy - a great way for me to check the booking times that might work best across multiple time zones. With frequent travel + clients in the US, CAN, UK, and AUS - this comes in very handy.
Google Translation - the best option for unsticking when stuck - I’ve been learning Spanish and find quick access to the speaking mode to be very helpful as I travel.
None of these will help you grow your business per say, but it’s one of the busiest travel seasons of the year so we wanted to share what helped us while on the go.
One of my favorite IG accounts did drop a list of AI tools no one is talking about though - you can view it here.
Until next week,
