Friday Email - the one where Daymond John showed up

I’m not kidding.

I was just there, in a room, with 300 other entrepreneurs, when a presenter slid in a little programming note… “apparently Daymond John is in the area and has a few minutes to join us”

… or something like that.

He gave a master class in bootstrapping a business and gaining skills – figuring out what you’re missing, then finding the ways to fill the gap.

“when I stay home and watch Jim Cramer two times a day and understand about publicly traded companies and real estate and compounding interest…”

“if you don’t know what interest is, you are going to pay it; if you do, you are going to earn it”

“the data is that 50% of the kids graduating today will retire with a job title that doesn’t exist today”

“I’m trying to break the lack of financial literacy in this country” (see his book Little Daymond Learns to Earn)

And also…

“I’m used to being the smartest person on the panel” in one of his fun digs at Mark Cuban.

But that’s another story. :)

What does Daymond John have to do with business growth and marketing?

Everything

Become a student of your craft.

Surround yourself with people smarter than you. (maybe even Mark Cuban)

Don’t take things to seriously.

Do the work, but never do things without a reason.

I became a fractional CMO so I could share my gifts with more companies, in more industries, without losing sight of the need to return real results. I challenge CEOs, I think outside the circle, and I surround myself with those that have done the big things so I can help business owners gain the edge they need.

My live reaction of Daymond
